Tools4Patient is an innovative company developing AI technologies for the pharmaceutical industry. Heavily relying on statistical and machine learning approaches, data is the core of our business. To support the growth of the company, we are currently looking for two people with an open-minded and curious: 

  • Senior Data Mining and Statistical Research Specialist.
  • Junior Data Mining and Statistical Research Specialist.

As part of a multidisciplinary scientific team in a human-scale company, you will be actively involved in a variety of tasks related to the data analysis, predictive tools development and deployment. Such a dynamic team will require adaptability and fast learning abilities.

Job Purpose:

The main responsibility of the Senior Data Mining and Statistical Research Scientist is to design and develop mathematical and/or statistical models and software using predictive algorithms to support company multimodal diagnostic tools development. In addition, the Senior Data Mining and Statistical Research Specialist will carry out the technical work of conducting statistical research.

Under the supervision of experienced colleagues, the main responsibilities of the Junior Data Mining and Statistical Research Specialist are to support customers data analysis in customer-oriented mindset and depending on the seniority and expertise, to develop mathematical approaches to support Company predictive mathematical Solutions, and to design related softwares. 

Your key responsibilities as Senior:

Analyse, design, develop, support and maintain mathematical and/or statistical models for algorithm prediction.  

Identify opportunities for innovation and to support further software development as well as the conception and programming of innovative statistical approaches across the development portfolio by interacting with other statisticians and scientists.

The function includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Evaluation of alternative or innovative approaches to statistical methods,
  • Further development of methodology in relation with algorithms/prediction (using data mining, Bayesian modelling), 
  • Development of algorithms models and statistical analysis of clinical data,
  • Analysis and interpretation of data in collaboration with other staff members, 
  • Liaise with the customers to define data transfer, then process data and conduct analysis and reporting according to standard operating procedures,
  • Participation in study related document writing,
  • Communication about research and findings to technical and non-technical audiences inside and outside the research team (congresses, health authorities, …) 
  • Mentoring junior colleagues,

Your key responsibilities as Junior:

Conduct client data analysis and reporting under supervision of more senior staff. Depending on the seniority and level of autonomy, contribute/analyse, design, develop, support and maintain mathematical and/or statistical models for algorithm prediction according to guidance and instructions. 

The function includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Analysis and interpretation of customer data in collaboration with senior staff members, 
  • Contribute to further development of algorithms models and statistical analysis (using data mining, Bayesian modeling) of clinical data in collaboration with senior staff members,
  • Liaise with the customers to define data transfer, then process data and conduct analysis and reporting according to standard operating procedures,
  • Participate in Development of web-based applications of the Company Multimodal Companion Diagnostic Tools with senior staff members,
  • Communication about research and findings to technical and non-technical audiences inside and outside the research team.
  • Participation in clinical study related document writing,

For both functions, making sure that his/her activities will take into account: 

  • feasibility: time and resources evaluation 
  • planning in alignment with the other members of the team
  • supported by robust processes to ensure delivery.

Requirements:

Education of Senior:

  • Master or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Strong background in computation, particularly in modeling of complex datasets and statistics

Education of Junior:

  • Master in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Strong interest (by a first experience or traineeship) in computation, particularly in modelling of complex datasets and statistics.

Technical skills:

  • Prior modelling experience or background in development of algorithms based on covariable correlation (by a first experience or traineeship for junior position).
  • Languages and procedures with knowledge of other statistical software (e.g. R, Matlab, Mathematica, SAS, Python) and Operating System like Linux, Mac OS X and/or MS Win would be appreciated.
  • Versioning tools (git, mercurial,…)
  • Acquainted with Bayesian paradigm, Data Mining paradigm and related methodologies.
  • Ideally prior modelling experience or background in one or more of the following domains: life science, finance or, marketing, (from 1 to 2 years)
  • Knowledge/notion of clinical research, compliance, regulatory and economic landscapes would be an asset
  • Publications in related field would be an asset
